What is a memorial diamond?
A memorial diamond - also known as cremation diamonds or eternal diamonds - is a genuine lab-grown diamond created using carbon extracted from your loved one’s ashes or hair. It’s a way to carry them with you — not only in memory, but in form.
-
How are diamonds made from ashes?
Natural diamonds are formed deep within the earth, where carbon is subjected to intense heat and pressure over time. Remarkably, the human body is composed of approximately 18% carbon by weight—found in both cremated ashes and hair.
We carefully extract this carbon and using heat and pressure transform the carbon into a genuine diamond.
-
Are they real diamonds?
Yes — chemically, physically, and optically, Forever Eternal diamonds are identical to natural diamonds. They’re certified by independent gemological labs with a IGI certification - providing a detailed report on the carat weight, cut, clarity, and colour.
-
Can I use both ashes and hair?
Yes, you can. In fact, combining ashes and hair is a meaningful way to honour and include multiple loved ones in the creation of your diamond. For example, you may choose to use a small amount of hair from one family member and ashes from another—symbolically bringing them together in a single, lasting tribute.
You can also add other significant items, like a favourite shirt or a love letter. We’re here to guide you through the process and ensure every element is treated with care, precision, and dignity.
-
How much ashes or hair do you need?
We only need a small amount: Ashes: Approx 100g (about half a cup). Hair: Approx 15g.
-
How do I start the process?
You start by ordering your Eternal Journey Kit, which arrives with everything you need and clear instructions.
Once you receive it, you place a small amount of your loved one’s ashes or hair into the container, seal it, and send it back to us. We will keep you updated throughout the entire journey of creating your diamond.
-
How long does the process take?
The process of turning ashes into a diamond moves at a gentle, deliberate pace and can take between 12 and 20 weeks from start to finish.
The diamond grows ever so slowly, requiring several weeks to create something meaningful and beautiful. Once the stone forms, skilled cutters spend time refining your diamond, until it’s clear, bright, and ready for the unveil.
-
How do I receive my diamond?
Once your diamond is set in your chosen designer piece we will ship directly to your chosen address - insured and tracked every step of the way - using a reputable national or international carrier.
-
Can I decide how the memorial diamond is set?
Yes. You can choose from one of our predesigned bespoke pieces - either a ring or pendant. Alternatively, we can assist you to design a custom piece.
